5.00 rating LIght-Weight enough for moms and roomie enough for babies. by Savvymommy on September 15, 2006
After weeks of research and debate, I finally decided on the Pliko Lite in Rose over the Maclaren Quest. I was originally looking into buying a light-weight umbrella stroller for my 17 months old daughter to hand down the bugaboo to my newborn. And after using the Bugaboo Frog for over a year, I was worried that not many strollers can fit my numerous needs. I really liked the Maclaren Quest for its light-weight, compact fold, and good reviews from its users but I was a little hesistant to spend that much money on a stroller that I can only use for quick trips. I was looking for a stroller that can do it all..be light-weight with an umbrella fold yet still have an accessible basket, comfortable and roomie seat for baby, and a good sized canopy. I live in So. California where I'm constantly in and out of the car, but once I'm out, I stroll with the baby for longer than an hour and didn't want to lose all the nice features that a full or medium-sized stroller has for an umbrella stroller. Fortunately I came across the Pliko lite during my research and it seemed to fit my requirements the best. The basket is roomie (only accessible from the sides or the front but I can live with that), the seat is plush with extra paddings on the sides so my daughter can easily lean her head to the side when taking a nap, the seat reclines far enough so she can be comfortable sleeping. Websites say that this stroller has a 2 point recline system which is a little misleading because it actually has three positions. One upright, one about 1/3 down and one 2/3 down, which makes it good enough for an older baby. The canopy comes down pretty far but it is missing a viewing window which I would like. But once again, my daughter is old enough to sit well on her own so I don't feel too bad about not checking up on her constantly through the canopy. It also comes with a decent cup holder but it is too small to hold large drinks. It can probably fit a small water bottle or sippy cups. But once again, I can't expect a full sized cup holder on an umbrella stroller. The fold is really easy and most importantly, the stroller stands on its own when folder which is a huge plus for me. It is not TOO light-weight but not too heavy either. I'd say about 16 lbs. So basically if you want a really light-weight umbrella stroller for quick trips, Maclarens are probably better. But if you're williing to deal with a little more weight for the comfort of your baby, I'd definitely recommend the Pliko Lite. My daughter loves this stroller and looks so comfortable in it that I don't think she'll miss her old Bugaboo. I'm glad I made this purchase and would definitely recommend it as an every day stroller for malls, outdoor areas, amusement parks, etc.
5.00 rating Best light weight stroller ever! by Bethany, Chicago on January 1, 2004
I am someone who does lots of research on my products before buying, especially expensive purchases. I LOVE this stroller. I am usually very happy with peg perego (except the highchair). This stroller moves very well. It is light wieght and easy to handle. I have traveled through many airports with it as well as others and have been very pleased with my purchase. It is a light weight stroller but it is the only one I ever use. You do not need to buy one of those big heavy ones. The only thing that bugs me is the basket on the bottom. It is only front accesable. But I can live with that. It also has the toddler stand on the back which we are just starting to use when we are out shopping and my toddler doesn't want to sit. I let her stand in the back and I put the bags in her seat. Also this stroller reclines fully and is perfect for diaper changes or naps. I highly recommend this stroller! And I love the new colors!
5.00 rating Finally someone got it right!!, by R.G. Boston on January 1, 2004
What can I say, sombody finally nailed it. I have owned 5 strollers in the last 3yrs. I was just about ready to give up until I saw this one, it rides like a dream. I am 5'9 and Hubby 6'3 and we dont have to slouch to push it. Yes the basket is only accessible from the front,or the side but I can live with that. It holds weight beautifully, not like the other light weight stroller we have that as soon as you put that little ones in it seems they shrink about 10 times and extremely hard to push and they just look so uncomfortable. I love the reclining positions, and it is as light as feather. The only thing I wish they would have considered was giving us a peek hole in the top of the canopy to see the little ones, and I would wish for a bigger canopy as when she is asleep and fully reclined the light still hits her in the eyes. Did I mention it has a pocket in the back to carry the keys or wallets! Thanks Peg Perego!!
5.00 rating mint pilko lite by Kate, Hainesport, NJ on January 1, 2004
my daughter is 19 months we've had 5 strollers an evenflo travel system, a smaller graco, then a saftey first jogger, a jeep umbrella stroller, a full size combi, and finally the last purchase was the pilko lite it is a lifesaver, the first stroller didn't fit into my trunk and the latches that locked it in to place were broken in 3 months, the smaller graco was very uncomfortable to push and it was not very roomy for the baby either, the front wheels on the jogger just slid instead of rolled and it was very heavy and bulky, the reclining jeep umbrella stroller was the comapctness i was searching for but it was sized for a doll not a real baby, the combi was beautiful it even had speakers but you couldnt turn it no matter how you tried to push it was by far the worst steering on any stroller i've had, after all these strollers my husband and i were burnt, i found the pilko lite shopping one day its huge big enough for a five year old, it glides across any surface and spins on a dime, it folds as small as any cheap umbrella stroller and you can even attach an infant carrier carseat. it has plenty of storage and a cup holder, also reclines lower then some of the cheaper large strollers...... this stroller is worth every penny, (i just wish we'd found it sooner.....) My daughter loves it she is actually excited when we get it out of the car, the padding in the seat is the thickest i've seen, she falls asleep after two minutes in the stroller. If we had gone to the peg perego brand in the begining instead of trying to be cheap we would have saved a whole lot of money.........I just can't tell how great this stroller is.
4.00 rating Compact convenient by O.M., CA on January 1, 2004
I like that this stroller is an umbrella stroller. I have an SUV and not many things can fit in the rear. I replaced the travel stroller with this convenient umbrella stroller. I also wanted a light weight stroller that I can lift with one hand. It actually is not as light as I expected but it is much lighter than the travel stroller. The steering is much better that the travel stroller. However, for my 3 1/2 month old baby the strap harness is not ideal since it comes in contact with her face. It looks as if within time she will out grow that. Overall, I enjoy strolling her in it.
