I have 3 kids and 2 dogs and I am so happy that I purchased this gate. I bought it when my 2nd child was born and it has become a consistant item in my house. We moved and I was concerned about the different size of the openings. There was not a problem. It is easy enough for my 5 year old to open, but sturdy enough to withstand my 2yr old and 1 yr old. I love the gate in regards to pets because it makes having company easy. I can keep my dogs in the house and yet they are away from my company. With out the gate I would be constantly fighting my toddlers to keep them out of the kitchen/trash/litter box/cabinets. Everyone who comes over to visit and has children or pets ask about the gate! Even though the price of the gate is kind of high, it is something that keeps giving. I love my gate even after almost 3 years!

I bought this gate because it is the only one on the market that could block off the space I needed it to. I have an open living room/breakfast area, with a stone and brick fireplace in the living room. At the point at which the living room turns into the breakfast room, there is also an open doorway area into the kitchen. While the living room was carpeted, the breakfast area and kitchen were tile, areas I definitely didn't want a new walker attempting her skills. Would I buy this gate again? Probably not as many pieces. I think it was a little new-mother overkill. With the new baby, I will probably only put up a gate to block off the actual kitchen, and put a throw rug in the breakfast area. THe fireplace is now blocked off with a toy organizer and large toys so it is not a threat to the baby at this point. If you are like I was and need to go the whole 9 yards with babyproofing, and you have either a large or oddly shaped area to block off, I would suggest this gate. It is the only one out there I found that can get the job done.

There is NO way my daughter will be able to get through this gate. She is the most rambunctious little girl too. And she is only 10 months old. She is already running around and able to walk really well on her own. And she loves the stairs. This gate is perfect in front of our stairs and they're not even with the wall either. The banaster and the very top stair are totally uneven and our opening is about 7 feet wide. And with the Configure Gate and one extension, there is no way I will ever have to worry about my daughter falling down the staris or breaking our gates, which she has done due to the way the top of our stairs are. This is the only gate that I have found that works perfect for our home. Plus the door in the gate is easy to use. You don't have to squeeze hard on the handle to open it, but it's not easy enough for a 4 year old to squeeze the handle. I love that this is a heavy-duty metal gate, it won't break or fall apart on me and it was easy to install. I'm so happy that my husband and I bought this gate. It is an all around Great Investment. If you are considering buying a baby gate, you should really invest in a great baby gate. And I HIGHLY recommend this gate. And with the extensions it can fit ANYWHERE in your home or you can make it into a circle for a play yard. If you want a gate for your home, and you want one that will last and protect your child no matter how hard they are on it, get this gate.

My husband & I recently spent $159 on a Kidco Configure gate and one extension for our daughter Rebecca. Although she is not crawling yet, she is very mobile. She manages to get from one side of a room to another by rolling and is trying to pull herself up to a standing position on various pieces of furniture. Her safety involving open stairways was our concern.The gate was easy to install. It only took about 20 minutes, but I do recommend having two people work on this project. The extra pair of hands are almost a necessity in order to properly attach the gate to a firm solid base. I like that the door section of the gate is difficult for a child to open and close, yet easy for an adult. Just by squeezing on a little bar and lifting slightly you can open and close the gate. As an added feature, the door swings open in both directions.Although this gating system is pricey, it was a necessity for the layout of our house. I am fully satisfied with this product, and feel we cannot put a price on our daughters safety.

I have this gate set up in two different parts of my house... one part as-is, and one part with two extensions. The gate that that has no extensions is very durable, and easy to open, however there is a bar that goes across the bottom of the "door", and myself and my guests are always bumping bare toes on it...ouch! In the other part of my house, I have this gate with two extensions. It's such a LONG gate, that there is no stability... the whole thing kind of sways, and my toddler finally was able to pull it out of the wall. There aren't many gates out there that will let you cover such a wide room, though, and for that it was nice while it lasted.

We bought two different kinds of Gates for our living room area. We bought the Kidco Configure gate and the Kidco Elongate. The elongate was to cover an area of 84". The elongate can only go straight across and opening. It's extension are screwed together and have an overlap. So the gate is not actually straight across. We are very disappointed in this purchase and wished we had bought two Configure gates. Took us some time to screw the extension in and then to screw the supports in and then to mark it on the wall. Took us over an hour. The Configure gate is on the pricey side. We almost did not buy it. But it has two different size extension pieces and you can bend and configure it to the space you need. We use it at the bottom of our stairs and it bows out to give you an area so that the gate is not up against the stairs. It was so easy to add the extension piece on. You just snap out the pole and add the extension piece. You can bend the gate different ways to fit in the opening. To Mount on the wall you just mark the screw holes and screw in the plate then snap the gate on. It was mounted on the wall in less then 20 minutes. It was very sturdy. I highly recommend this gate.

We purchased this gate to go at the base of our stairs. We have a wide base, and finding a gate to fit was difficult. This product was the perfect fit. Easy to install, sturdy, easy to use. The only thing I would change would be to make the gate door a wee bit wider. I am a small person and find it hard to squeeze through with two toddlers.
