Husband had to add a length of wood with a block to the wall because he didn't want to screw into the molding. Also, the molding is uneven and the connector would not have fit onto it. So be aware if you have moldings around your door opening you may have to modify it with more wood in order to attach the gate. So the side with the gate lock is not attached on the bottom because he forgot to adjust for more wood there. Gate is still very strong without the bottom attached to the wall. We couldn't shake it out, so hopefully our kids won't either. They are not quite 9 months and not really cruising yet, so.... | | By: Lori, Lincoln, NB 1/1/2004 | | | Perfect to section off a room | This gate helped us to section off our master bedroom and den area. We wanted the children to access the room, but not tamper with the computer and all of our files. There were many dangerous things in this den area, and too many to safety proof. The gate stayed very secure, but needed some extra securing after being leaned on many times by the children. The gate opening is on the end, which posed some challenges with the layout of our room. We ended up hoping over the gate more than anything. The height of the gate allowed us to do so, but we are also tall (I'm 5'7", and husband is 6'5"). This gate only works for spaces that can secure wall to wall. There cannot be a slanted wall at one end. To secure it would require more hardware and creativity for installation. My children never attempted to climb over the gate, but they did like to blow through the open holes on the top railing, which made a whistling noise. Not that big of a deal, except when trying to concentrate on reading. Whistle noise was quite high pitched. | | By: Becca, Boston, MA 1/1/2004 | | | Great Gate for Safety and Peace of Mind! | This gate is a challenge to install but all child safety gates are! We installed one and liked the end result so much that we have installed 2 more. The 2nd and 3rd gates installed much easier. They are durable and look really nice. The one thing to know is that the screws used to secure the gate to the walls are really too short and won't hold into wood as well as you would need. So you will need to buy longer wood screws for the installation. Also like most gates, it really needs to be installed into a wood door facing or wall stud. | | By: Mom, Womack, NC 1/1/2004 | | | great for spans up to 13' | Great for spans up to 13 feet in width. Assembly is awkward and not versatile. The mounting hardware kits should be included not extra. Buy if you have to close off up to a 13' span length and if you accept its limitations and if you are handy to make up for its deficiencies. | | By: Lynda, Little Neck, AK 1/1/2004 | | | Write your own review and start sharing your opinion with others. | | | | |
