A couple people have complained about the styrofoam around the head breaking. It is DESIGNED to crush, etc very easily. That is how it would protect your child's head in an accident--ABSORBING the energy by being smashed. It's simple engineering 101.
It is NOT designed for your kids to mess with and won't stand up to it.
Just like you wouldn't walk on egg carton styrofoam and expect it to hold up... it's not designed for that.
Don't fault the designer. Fault physics or Isaac Newton.
And tell your kids to stop messing with the headrest. If you want durability, get a headrest made out of wood, but then don't complain when your child gets a concussion in a fender bender. | | By: The Professor 10/9/2007 | | | Duh it's not for 2 year olds | The very best way to protect your child is to keep them in their five point harness until they outgrow their marathon (or other carseat) which is usually around age 4. The parkway and other boosters are meant to keep children safe who are too big for conventional carseats and too small to use an adult belt by itself. It is also not meant to be childproof. It is made so older children can buckle themselves in and out when the vehicle is stopped. Toddlers should be fully restrained in a five point harness even if they meet the minimum height and weight requirements for a booster. | | By: elizabeth 9/8/2007 | | | Cheaply Made | The headrest is made of styrofoam and we it broke after only having the product for 8 months. It is impossible to get in touch with anyone from britax. DO NOT BUY THIS BOOSTER SEAT! | | By: RD Schmieder 8/10/2007 | | | Great Booster | When our 3 year old son outgrew his Marathon, we purchased the Parkway. At first I was nervous because it seemed unstable compared to the LATCH system of the Marathon, but once my 34-pound son was buckled in, it was amazingly secure. It is also a breeze to transfer to another car. We have had it now for almost 2 years and the top quality fabric still looks like new. The only negative are the cupholders. They are very shallow and pretty much useless. I can't wait until my 2 year old daughter is big enough so we can buy her the "Tiffany" print! | | By: Vikki 6/29/2007 | | | Wonderful booster!!! | My 5 year old has this seat and I just ordered one for my son as well. It is so wonderful and easy to install and buckle them. It is worth every penny I spent!! | | By: Stephanie S 6/27/2007 | | | Safe and Comfortable Booster | This car seat is not only very safe, it is also much more comfortable than our present car seat. The bottom had more cushion, and I really like that when my daughter falls asleep, her head is not falling forward or bobbing from side to side. The adjustable headrest allowed me to adjust it to her rather petite size...and will also grow along with her, so hopefully, this will be the last carseat we have to buy. | | By: Denise 6/25/2007 | | | britax parkway booster | the styrofoam behind the head rest broke in half! | | By: eva 1/17/2007 | | | worth the money!!! | In our opinion, this is the greatest booster car seat ever. This is the third booster seat we've had for our daughter. One was a plain booster seat with no back. We replaced that one very quickly with a Cosco which has a back and looks similar to the Parkway. We go on trips over 50 miles about once or twice a week and our daughter has a tendency to sleep during these trips. Before, her head would swing around with every turn or stop and go. She would also double over or fall sideways. She also squirms in the other seats like they are extremely uncomfortable. We felt horrible about putting her in these booster seats, but she is too big for a regular car seat. We took a trip the next day after receiving the Parkway. It was a dream. The head, back and seat are much better padded than the Cosco. Our daughter went to sleep right after we got out of town and slept comfortably all the way to our destination. She then slept all the way back, which is unusual. We love it! | | By: Anonymous, Ft. Worth, TX | | | the seat we were looking for! | This booster is amazing....we tried three different brands before we found what we wanted in terms of comfort, support and overall function. Our boys often nod off in the car and this is the first booster seat that allows them doze comfortably without their chins falling to their chest. The boys love their new seats, we love the safety features and everyone is happy! We now have four Parkway's (2/vehicle) and they were worth every penny! | | By: Karin, Uxbridge, ON | | | not secure enough for a 2 year old | put my two year old in this booster, as he met the height and weight requirements. I would turn around and he had unbuckled himself and was just sitting in the seat while I was driving. He was at the lower weight range required by the seat so the seat didn't seem as safe as his old marathon. I sent it back and plan to use his marathon until he outgrows it. It didn't seem nearly as secure since it doesn't use latch. It would move from side to side and my son didn't feel as comfortable in it. I think it is a great booster, but should be used for older children. | | By: Anonymous, Orlando, FL | | | no arm rest, not deep cup holders, greatest protection | The protection offered to the child is the greatest. But, it doesn't have arm rest and their cup holders are not deep enough to hold their drinks. | | By: Marcella, Ossining, NY | | | great booster!! | We had bought the brownstone-parkway booster and LOVE IT! Great protection and the headrest is great for holding my 4 years head upright when she naps in the car. | | By: Mari, NV | | | great booster seat!! | We just recieved our Parkway and my son loves it! It is so soft and the best part is it is comfortable for him to nap in on long trips. I highly recommend this booster! | | By: Erin, OK | | | Write your own review and start sharing your opinion with others. | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
