product worked well until the plastic latch piece broke rendering gate inoperable.So spending twice as much for another one.If you use the gate often it will most likely break.

I too have had the plastic latch break and am hoping to find a replacement piece so I don't have to buy yet another gate. Should be made of metal as well. Plastic piece broke on slamming the gate!

This product was poorly designed because it only LOOKS like it would be very safe and secure, locking tight, etc. Actually, the whole locking mechanism is really a little piece of plastic that snaps into another little piece of plastic. Nothing metal about it. And the only thing that keeps it from swinging in both directions is a little piece of plastic on the bottom. Both pieces of plastic were destroyed soon after we purchased it. Evenflo will not replace it free of charge either, only offered us a discount - why would we want to buy another one?
