Recaro Young Sport Car Seat

If Jeff Gordon could go back in time and convince his mother to buy him a Recaro car seat, he certainly would. If infants and toddlers could race, Young Sport would be the seat they would sit in. It is one of the Recraro Seats which are decked out from head to toe with safety and comfort features. The law says that a child must wait till 16 to drive, but they can get their juices flowing early right? An infant car seat from Recaro will have them revved up for some racing.

The Young Sport is a convertible car seat with side impact protection. This is a feature which is tremendous. It features deep side wings with EPS absorbing foam to provide comfort and safety in case of a collision. The Recaro seat uses the EPS foam to absorb energy which is released during an impact. The car seat also features plush padding which is removable and washable. Perhaps its most outstanding features is its ability to convert. The Recaro car seat is a forward facing seat compatible with the LATCH system and using a five point harness with a child to 40 lbs. It becomes a booster car seat after from 40-80 lbs. and uses the car’s seat belts. It also includes a knob which easily reclines the seat to a sleeping position.

Although a car seat from Recaro isn’t rear facing, it is still a great value. It has features which protect and comfort the child. For a future racer, the Young Sport is the obvious choice.

We bought this car seat in the midnight sky color last month when my son turned one. Ever since my son was born, he has always hated being in the car. As he got older, he didn't cry so much, but still hated his infant seat because he had to rear face and was unable to sit up as a result of the seat recline position. Every time my son is in his Recaro seat, he just loves it! He is very quiet and loves to look around outside. I was afraid the side impact would obstruct his view, but they are no problem at all. He is able to fall asleep right away in this seat and his head does not flop. He just looks so comfy! I read about other people having problems with the bottom cushion moving around, but we have not had that problem at all. It is not fastened down because the seat is made to grow with the baby. But the material is a very soft velvety fabric that keeps the little cushion in place. This seat is VERY easy to install! I didn't even need to read the book! The latch is so easy to install...it uses the click of a button rather than the hard safety pin like latch on most infant seats. It also is very easy to tighten because it lets you tighten the seat on both sides, not just one. The seat is a little heavy and quite bulky, but it fits fine in my Xterra and my husbands GMC. I highly recommmend this seat to anyone that is willing to splurge for their baby. I wanted the best seat I could find that would also grow with him so we could get our money's worth. This one seems to accomidate the child longer, so we picked this one over the Britax.

I love this carseat..Safest in the market. Bought it for my daughter almost 3 years ago when she was 1. She is now almost 4 and weighs 33lbs. 5-point harness fits her perfectly and probably will for at least 1 more year--I admit she is on the skinny side. If your child is more rounder in the upper body or mid-section than you might want to consider another brand because it may seem a little cramp for them. The price is incrediably fair and I would even say I'd be willing to pay more for it---their customer service is EXCELLENT! Had a problem in the 2nd month of purchase, called them, they called me back immediately and fedex overnight a brand new designed improved one to me and even some free gifts (cup and keychain). Recaro has made race seats for adults for years and any racer whether nascar, F1, etc. out there knows their reputation for safety and quality thru their decades of testing and knowledge. The 1 star reviewer probably didn't know this which is sad because this is probably the safest seat out there--- I am about to purchase a second one for my little boy!

Our 3-year-old outgrew her German car seat and we had a really hard time finding another safe car seat here. Well, after months of research and trying out car seats - this is the one!!! It doesn't have cup holders and it is expensive, but it is the safest available car seat we found on the market for our daughter (http://www.iihs.org/news/rss/pr100108.html). The ones listed as the best and the ones that are for booster mode only, are not available on the market or only over the internet. The problem with the cup holders can be solved by buying them separately at a local retail store and the seat is for sure worth its price. I tried the Britax Frontier and the Graco Nautilus in my car at a local store. I could not make the Britax tight in our car (what I had already read in other reviews) and it is impossible to attach this seat securely with the car's seat belts, once the child reaches 40 pounds, from what we are not far away now. The statement that you can keep your child longer in the 5-point-harness with the Nautilus or the Frontier is misleading because the latch system in your car will not allow it beyond 40 pounds and you cannot secure these seats properly with the seat belt. Furthermore, the 5-point-harness seat belts become too short way before they reach the weight. Therefore, read everything on the Childseat and Manuals, since the advertising, written big of course, on the seat and package, tell only half the truth.
