If infants and toddlers could race, Young Sport would be the seat they would sit in. It is one of the Recraro Seats which are decked out from head to toe with safety and comfort features. The law says that a child must wait till 16 to drive, but they can get their juices flowing early right? An infant car seat from Recaro will have them revved up for some racing. The Young Sport is a convertible car seat with side impact protection. This is a feature which is tremendous. It features deep side wings with EPS absorbing foam to provide comfort and safety in case of a collision. The Recaro seat uses the EPS foam to absorb energy which is released during an impact. The car seat also features plush padding which is removable and washable. Perhaps its most outstanding features is its ability to convert. The Recaro car seat is a forward facing seat compatible with the LATCH system and using a five point harness with a child to 40 lbs. It becomes a convertible car seat after from 40-80 lbs. and uses the car's seat belts. It also includes a knob which easily reclines the seat to a sleeping position. Although a car seat from Recaro isn't rear facing, it is still a great value. It has features which protect and comfort the child. For a future racer, the Young Sport is the obvious choice. | |

2/9/2007 | |  | We love this car seat! | We bought this car seat in the midnight sky color last month when my son turned one. Ever since my son was born, he has always hated being in the car. As he got older, he didn't cry so much, but still hated his infant seat because he had to rear face and was unable to sit up as a result of the seat recline position. Every time my son is in his Recaro seat, he just loves it! He is very quiet and loves to look around outside. I was afraid the side impact would obstruct his view, but they are no problem at all. He is able to fall asleep right away in this seat and his head does not flop. He just looks so comfy! I read about other people having problems with the bottom cushion moving around, but we have not had that problem at all. It is not fastened down because the seat is made to grow with the baby. But the material is a very soft velvety fabric that keeps the little cushion in place.
This seat is VERY easy to install! I didn't even need to read the book! The latch is so easy to install...it uses the click of a button rather than the hard safety pin like latch on most infant seats. It also is very easy to tighten because it lets you tighten the seat on both sides, not just one.
The seat is a little heavy and quite bulky, but it fits fine in my Xterra and my husbands GMC.
I highly recommmend this seat to anyone that is willing to splurge for their baby. I wanted the best seat I could find that would also grow with him so we could get our money's worth. This one seems to accomidate the child longer, so we picked this one over the Britax. | | By: Kristynn

We even bought a 2nd Recaro seat (Young Style-booster). | | By: Mike, Tallahassee, FL | | | Better than Britax | I never thought I'd be saying that after having a Roundabout for 3 years, but after my little girl had outgrown her favorite seat, a new search had begun. She is petite but at that difficult in-between stage...she just fits in a Britax highback booster but at 32 pounds, not safely enough for our peace of mind. Then she's too big for the Marathon. So, 1 returned car seat later (the Eddie Bauer Summit which slid around in our van's latchless captains chairs like a hockey puck on ice)we started looking at the Decathalon, the Boulevard and the Recaro Young Sport. Other reviewers are right--my little girl complained immediately that the Boulevard's center crotch buckle piece was hurting her and the Decathalon didn't leave her much height to grow. As soon as we put her in the Recaro, she said "I want this one! I love it!" The seat depth was perfect, and the padded buckle was soft. Some adjustable height boosters have padding that pushes the kids' upper back forward and cause them to slouch forward but Recaro's seat back padding is thick and flat. After one try of installing it by myself, it was in tight and wouldn't budge! The shoulder strap actually crosses the frame of the seat and holds it in tight. The side impact molding is surprisingly hard and sturdy and I feel so secure knowing that her head and body are protected. I am so glad we can keep her in a harness till she gains more weight. I would recommend this seat to anyone whose child is in that transition stage!
