It is sturdy but the wood scratched badly from removing the tray to clean it (over and over again.) It started to look pretty disreputable on the sides, where the tray attaches (we have cherry wood.) I also found it pretty difficult to clean. Now that my son is using it as a chair, rather than a high chair, I appreciate it a lot more. I won't buy it for my daughter when she needs a high chair however - cleaning was too much of a pain. | | By: Sharon 1/17/2007 | | | Tray Issues | The wood veneer on this tray splits and gets cracks. It's really gross because I feel like food gets trapped in there and that I can't ever really get it clean. I'm also concerned that bacteria can live in these cracks. I would not buy this chair again. | | By: Avid, San Diego, CA 1/1/2004 | | | Stylish and Surprisingly Practical | I have to admit that we chose this (initially) purely for aesthetic reasons--why is it that items made for babies seem to automatically require ugly plastic and obnoxious prints? When we received it, both my husband and I were impressed by the quality of craftmanship (it really looks like it CAN last through her childhood!). The scale is great--we have an older home, and while not small, it doesn't have gargantuan proportions that the big plastic chairs require. If you have a smaller kitchen or limited space, this chair works incredibly well! Our baby loves it--she will happily sit and play while I clean up in the kitchen. We have been using the Svan chair for the last month for our seven month old daughter, and there are a couple of things that I wish were slightly different. One is that the tray is quite far from her belly, so stuff can (and does) drop down onto her lap and around the sides. It would be nice if the tray/infant kit could adjust closer to their body. I also wish that there was a simple, white plastic cover for the wooden tray, that you could pop-off and put in the dishwasher. I know, I know, I can't have it all, but it would be a simple add, and would make clean up even easier (a good scrubbing works well on the wood so far). Overall, very recommended, since it combines style with most of the features you need in a good high chair. | | By: Monica, Seattle, WA 1/1/2004 | | | So Wonderful! | I love this chair! Each of my daughters have one, and I can't imagine anything better. They are beautiful, but most important to me they have safety ratings that surpass everything else I have seen. The colored cushions mean it matches the rest of my chairs, and is extrordinarily comfortable... the comfort is further increased because we can adjust where their feet can reach. Finally, I love how easy it is to clean under them...just hang them on the table! Really, it works! Finally a SAFE answer to the travesty of the ugly (and nearly same priced) plastic chairs that are the only option...which kids quickly outgrow anyway. These chairs will last us throughout childhood. | | By: Melanie, Evanston, IL 1/1/2004 | | | Quality | So many things about this high chair I love--I recommend it without hesitation. I has a simple design, making it easy to use. I love that my daughter can rest her legs on the platform at the bottom (as it adjusts, it can grow with her). Additionally, crumbs and other icky liquids don't get stuck in crevices. It is small so it fits next to the dining room table and doesn't take up more than its fair space. Its beautiful, so it fits in with our decor. Just a well-designed, well-built product. | | By: Mom, Salt Lake City, UT 1/1/2004 | | | Write your own review and start sharing your opinion with others. | | | | | |
