5.00 rating Couldn't do Without it. by LDP

There are a few baby things that I have that I say "couldn't do without" and this is one of them. Once a day I make 32 oz of formula and I just leave it in the refrigerator. It doesn't come any easier than that. I use Lactose-Free Formula and I never have any problem with clumping.

Bottle Feeding

Bottle feeding can become a very complicated task, but we're here to help make it easier. Cover all of the bottle feeding bases and you and your baby can make bottle feeding a special time.

Types of Formula
It is recommended to start off bottle feeding your baby with a formula based on cow's milk. Formula also comes in three different forms, powder, liquid concentrate and premixed ready-to-feed. There are many nutrients that are found in baby formula, some of which are protein, fat, vitamins A, C, D, E, K, iron and calcium. It is very important than when you are purchasing your baby's formula, you always check the expiration date.

Preparing Formula
If you are using a liquid or powder formula, follow the directions on the package carefully. Measure each time you prepare the formula. After you combine the formula with the proper amount of cold water, you may heat the bottle to the temperature your baby prefers. Shake the baby bottle so that the formula and water are evenly mixed.

Choosing a Bottle and Nipple
Bottles for feeding come in many different varieties. You can choose between glass, disposable and plastic. While there is no type of bottle that is most recommended, if you choose a glass, check frequently for chips or cracks.

Bottle nipples also come in several different varieties as well as shapes. It is best to try out different kinds to see what type your baby prefers the most. You must also monitor the nipple's condition. Replace the bottle nipple if the formula comes out too quickly, the nipple has become discolored or the nipple has deteriorated in any way.

Sterilizing the Bottle
Bottles and nipples need to be sterilized before use. To sterilize one, place it in a pot of boiling water for 5 minutes or run it though the dishwasher. After it has been sterilized and cooled, it is ready for your baby to use.

Warming the Bottle
The bottle should be placed in boiling water to warm it up before feeding it to your baby. Do not place the bottle itself in the microwave. This can cause it to heat unevenly which can burn your baby.

Storing Formula
After the formula has been prepared, the bottle should be kept in the refrigerator for no more than 24 hours. Any formula that has been left over from a feeding should be thrown out immediately.

Amount to Feed Your Baby
During the first month of being born, your baby will usually eat 2 to 3 ounces of formula at each feeding. After that first month, they will typically eat 4 ounces every 3 hours. The amount will gradually increase as your baby grows older.

With our wide selection of baby bottle feeding accessories you can prepare the proper way. We offer everything from sterilizers to formula to all types of baby bottles so you are sure to find exactly what you are looking for.
