Debbie Wright: Do you think the bed could handle an 5 inches. The x-long twin is 5 inches longer, I was hoping
there might be a little extra wiggle room and it might work. Does anyone own this bed that might be able to answer. We already bought the mattress and would really like to purchase this bed. 10/16/2012

James Carney A: The bed is made of plastic, but the plastic is sturdy. I purchased a bunkie board to go with it rather than a boxspring and it works perfect. I am 210lbs, my wife just had a baby and is at about 150 lbs, my toddler is 30 lbs, and the new baby is about 14 lbs. We have all been on the bed comfortably cuddling, that means it can handle 404 lbs with the bunkie board irregardless of what the specs say. My son loves his "big bed" and his hiding spot beneath the bed. He also loves climbing the ladder to get into his "big bed". I hope this helped. We purchased a memory foam mattress that is approximately 8 inches and it fit in perfectly leaving a bit of room for the side safety rails, any bigger than that may have the mattress come up too far as to make the safety rails obsolete. Again, I hope this helped. 10/30/2012

Anonymous asked: Where do you get a bunkie board? Also is it better to get a box spring or a bunkie board?
Staff Answer: I'm not familiar with a bunkie board but with this particular bed, there is a spot that the mattress sits on. You will not need a box spring with this particular bed. Your little one will have fun for hours in this bed and has a lot of storage for all their toys. 5/14/2013
