It does need a bit of room for the full recline for a rear facing infant. If you have a mirror in the back to see your child, you won't be able to anymore. The cup holder sticks out a lot so unless you have a big car, the people in the back seat are gonna be tight. The child's feet are touching the back seat at 11 months and if they're supposed to be in there until 2 years old, their knees are gonna be to their chest by then (the recline feature offers a little bit more room).
