4.00 rating The safest car seat! by Lise on June 3, 2009
Our 3-year-old outgrew her German car seat and we had a really hard time finding another safe car seat here. Well, after months of research and trying out car seats - this is the one!!! It doesn't have cup holders and it is expensive, but it is the safest available car seat we found on the market for our daughter (http://www.iihs.org/news/rss/pr100108.html). The ones listed as the best and the ones that are for booster mode only, are not available on the market or only over the internet. The problem with the cup holders can be solved by buying them separately at a local retail store and the seat is for sure worth its price. I tried the Britax Frontier and the Graco Nautilus in my car at a local store. I could not make the Britax tight in our car (what I had already read in other reviews) and it is impossible to attach this seat securely with the car's seat belts, once the child reaches 40 pounds, from what we are not far away now. The statement that you can keep your child longer in the 5-point-harness with the Nautilus or the Frontier is misleading because the latch system in your car will not allow it beyond 40 pounds and you cannot secure these seats properly with the seat belt. Furthermore, the 5-point-harness seat belts become too short way before they reach the weight. Therefore, read everything on the Childseat and Manuals, since the advertising, written big of course, on the seat and package, tell only half the truth.
5.00 rating Love this seat but don't buy it if your child is BIG for their age! by Hannah on September 18, 2008
I love this carseat..Safest in the market. Bought it for my daughter almost 3 years ago when she was 1. She is now almost 4 and weighs 33lbs. 5-point harness fits her perfectly and probably will for at least 1 more year--I admit she is on the skinny side. If your child is more rounder in the upper body or mid-section than you might want to consider another brand because it may seem a little cramp for them. The price is incrediably fair and I would even say I'd be willing to pay more for it---their customer service is EXCELLENT! Had a problem in the 2nd month of purchase, called them, they called me back immediately and fedex overnight a brand new designed improved one to me and even some free gifts (cup and keychain). Recaro has made race seats for adults for years and any racer whether nascar, F1, etc. out there knows their reputation for safety and quality thru their decades of testing and knowledge. The 1 star reviewer probably didn't know this which is sad because this is probably the safest seat out there---
5.00 rating We love this car seat! by Kristynn on September 21, 2006
We bought this car seat in the midnight sky color last month when my son turned one. Ever since my son was born, he has always hated being in the car. As he got older, he didn't cry so much, but still hated his infant seat because he had to rear face and was unable to sit up as a result of the seat recline position. Every time my son is in his Recaro seat, he just loves it! He is very quiet and loves to look around outside. I was afraid the side impact would obstruct his view, but they are no problem at all. He is able to fall asleep right away in this seat and his head does not flop. He just looks so comfy! I read about other people having problems with the bottom cushion moving around, but we have not had that problem at all. It is not fastened down because the seat is made to grow with the baby. But the material is a very soft velvety fabric that keeps the little cushion in place.
5.00 rating best among the carseats in the market !! worth the money ! by Vitty, West Amherst, NY on January 1, 2004
This is the best purchase that i have done for my baby, being a first time mom, and seeing so many different products in the market I could not make up my mind in buying. I read about and heard about the recaro carseats from my friends in Europe. And finally made up mind to buy this one instead of britax boulevard. I am very very happy about the purcahse. I see my little one so comfortable in it. She never makes a fuss to sit in it. It works great for long drive's. The seat is so plush that you can not feel the body of the carseat. I checked almost all the carseats in babyiesrus and target, even the most expenisive carseat Britax did not have plush seat. The safty features are as same as Britax boulevard. Dont forget that these seats are made by the people who manufacture the carseat for sports cars. I works well in my Honda accord, it does not bulky like the other seats in the market.I am happy and my baby is very happy and comfy in this, you will not regret buying this one.
5.00 rating Better than Britax by Anonymous, Carlsbad, CA on January 1, 2004
I never thought I'd be saying that after having a Roundabout for 3 years, but after my little girl had outgrown her favorite seat, a new search had begun. She is petite but at that difficult in-between stage...she just fits in a Britax highback booster but at 32 pounds, not safely enough for our peace of mind. Then she's too big for the Marathon. So, 1 returned car seat later (the Eddie Bauer Summit which slid around in our van's latchless captains chairs like a hockey puck on ice)we started looking at the Decathalon, the Boulevard and the Recaro Young Sport. Other reviewers are right--my little girl complained immediately that the Boulevard's center crotch buckle piece was hurting her and the Decathalon didn't leave her much height to grow. As soon as we put her in the Recaro, she said "I want this one! I love it!" The seat depth was perfect, and the padded buckle was soft. Some adjustable height boosters have padding that pushes the kids' upper back forward and cause them to slouch forward but Recaro's seat back padding is thick and flat. After one try of installing it by myself, it was in tight and wouldn't budge! The shoulder strap actually crosses the frame of the seat and holds it in tight. The side impact molding is surprisingly hard and sturdy and I feel so secure knowing that her head and body are protected. I am so glad we can keep her in a harness till she gains more weight. I would recommend this seat to anyone whose child is in that transition stage! The store told us to keep the tags on in case we wanted to return it but my little girl said to me.."mommy lets take those tags off--I never want to return this seat!"
5.00 rating Recaro - safest and most advanced baby seat manufactured by Mike, Tallahassee, FL on January 1, 2004
This is the best and safest seat on the market! Spend the money ? the one seat for ages 1-8. We even bought a 2nd Recaro seat (Young Style-booster).
