I am highly pleased with my Britax Marathon 70 Convertible Car Seat! In other car seats, baby's head hangs forward while sleeping. However, the Britax Marathon 70 Convertible Car Seat reclines comfortably enough that baby's head rests peacefully while sleeping. The best car seat I've ever purchased!

I like the product so far. It is very cushiony for the little one and seems to be built quite strong and durable. My car is small and I am able to fit it in the center back seat. I have only used it with him really once or twice, but he seems to like it too.

We had always dismissed the Britax models as too expensive, but after getting some money gifts for our third child's first birthday, we decided we could afford to invest in the Marathon. From the moment my husband started installing it, we realized you get what you pay for! It was extremely easy to get a secure, tight fit in my car (a Mazda 5). You get a great sense of safety. Our daughter loves it and looks like a Queen on her throne! I think she will be very comfortable and safe in this seat for a long time.

This pattern is so pretty in person. Spend the extra money for a Britax carseat. Think about how much of your time is spent in your car... if it's as much as me and your child's safety is important to you as mine, invest. You'll have this one for awhile. Well worth the money and even better that you can get this $100 cheaper than what it normally goes for. I looked at this carseat at target.com when I was pregnant and it wasn't a closeout pattern. Now that my daughter is 6 mo I'm ready to be done carting around her Graco infant carseat. This carseat is perfect!! Up to 65 lbs and a carseat lifespan of 6 yrs... I think we'll be covered for years to come. I was going to get the cowprint one thinking about being able to use later for either sex. But then I realized that it'll probably be my daughter's and only my daughter's.

This is my third Britax carseat and I only have two kids! We have two carseats for each car and after buying the Evenflo Triumph, we decided to spend the extra to get something great and we love the Britax.
Best features:
-It's SUPER easy to transfer among cars, especially if those cars have LATCH.
-It's SUPER easy to clean; just pull off the cover and throw it in the wash. Reassembly is fool proof.
-It's lightweight and not overly wide. We can fit three Britax carseats (when we have a cousin w/ us) across the back of our Ford F-150.
-The recline feature is great; our F-150 (supercab) has a very flat backseat and the Britax was the only carseat that had enough recline for our little boy to still sleep when sitting back there w/out his head constantly falling forward.
I do recommend getting a seat with a darker cover. Even though we try to limit our kids food consumption in the car, it's not possible for them to never eat and my niece's Britax is yellow/pink and you can see the dirt so quickly. But that would happen with any carseat, not just Britax.

I love this car seat!! Have a Britax Boulevard -- which I always felt was top of the line. I think I might like the Marathon a little better. Because you have to manually adjust the shoulder straps (which is annoying for some), it feels like the seat is a little more sturdy. Know that sounds odd -- but our Boulevard has moved up and down so much with two kids that it feels like the headrest is loose. This is probably not the case and only my perception, however.

This is our second Britax Marathon. We love them. My daughter LOVES her carseat. She doesn't mind travel & says it is very comfortable. Her head has never fallen forward while sleeping either. She is 4 1/2 and 43lbs & still in her seat so now we are buying another for our one year old. Sometimes I wish it had a cupholder, but I'll go with this for safety anyday.

This is the second Britax I have owned. My first was purchased back in 2001 and I love the improvements they have made. The LATCH system makes it so easy to install, and install safely. MAKE SURE YOUR CAR SEAT CANNOT MOVE once installed. There should be very little wiggle room. Take it to your local police station and have them help. The car seat is the best and well worth the money you invest in it. My daughter loves it!

I purchased this product strictly based upon the safety reviews I read however I ended up with a product far better than any other carseat. The carseat is awesome and my grand-daughter loves it. She is very comfortable and never fusses about riding in it on short or longer trips. I have the carseat anchors in my vehicle and the carseat attached securely and will not move. I bought and easily installed a red and black version of this seat about two weeks ago for my daughter. She just turned one and was outgrowing her infant seat. We received a different convertible car seat as a gift, but this one is much more comfortable and is more padded than the other . It appears to be very safe. It does not move at all once strapped into the car. It's a big seat and she almost appears lost in in, but she has the room she'll need to grow. It's a good seat for children over one year of age.

This car seat is really big, and I love it! It took me probably about 5 mins to figure out how to install it for the first time.
The only problem I have had is with the recline feature. I bought the seat for my 9 month old and she has to be rear facing. You have to decide if you want the seat to sit upright or recline before you install it because the recline handle is shoved up against the seat. Other than that, the seat is really big which is nice and the straps are easy to adjust.

This is the second Britax I've purchased, as we have a Roundabout in my husband's car. I only wished we had purchased a Britax sooner! My daughter hated riding in the car as a newborn, but from the moment we put her in the Britax, she's been a happy passenger. I like that she'll be able to use the Marathon for such a long time, and can ride rear-facing up to 35 lbs. (Please put your children rear facing as long as the weight limit allows!! It's so much safer, despite the temptation to turn them around as soon as they hit the 1-year & 20 lbs mark. Please do your research!) We have zero complaints about the Marathon, it's a sturdy seat and easy to install - just follow the directions. My wife and I did extensive research before buying the next size up car seat for our 13 month old daughter. The purchase of the Britax Marathon Convertible Car Seat wasn't made lightly nor in haste. We were very impressed with it's safety ratings, crash test results and versilitility. It's not difficult to install (once you locate where the Latch clips are hidden under the seat cushion) and our daughter really loves the Onyx coloring. My only gripe is with the Latch connector side locks; these clips are designed to take up the slack in the latch strap but you have to check them frequently to make sure that they are secure. Some sort of lock for these clips would be appreciated or even better just being able to tighten that latch belt a little more would make them unnecessary. This is only a concern when the seat is in the rear facing position. Once you get them properly secured it does appear very stable. All in all we are very happy with our 2 Britax Marathon Convertible Car Seats.

My son is big for his age, so we thought we’d better go with the Britax Marathon. He was 35 pounds when we got it and we thought it would last for awhile. We started out with it rear facing, and I love the fact that we could switch it to front facing as he got heavier. The harness straps were also super easy to adjust as he got taller (he grows at an incredible rate!). The safety features on the Marathon are top notch. I would not take my baby anywhere without a car seat with side impact protection. Tyler finds the Marathon seat really comfy and he likes to recline in it. Love the belly pad! It’s great that I can remove the fabric and wash it, and I bought additional covers too.

This is a great car seat. It fit both backwards and forward facing in my Honda Civic.
It is esay to wash and I do dry the cover even though they say not to. The only concern I have is that my son is tall, so he already is at the top harness slot and is only 40lbs. I would assume he will out grow this car seat before he reaches 65lbs. Well worth the money for me and I will be buying the Britax booster seat next.

I purchased a Britax Marathon for my daughter after she complained that her back hurt in the eddie bauer car seat we had for her. She loves her car seat, never complains anymore. Her head doesn't flop forward while she sleeps like it did in her old car seat. It's so easy to get in and out of the car too. My husband loves that part. I recently purchased the marathon car seat. It is the best carseat ever! I was using an evenflo triumph and it was really great and had a great price but... the marathon is the best. It has great features nad is so easy to use and adjust and my son loves it!!! He seems so much more comfortable. YOu can't beat the limits on it either!!! We were rear-ended last week and my husband and I had pretty bad whip-lash, but the kids were fine. After being hit I immediately turned around and looked at my 3 year old and 17 mo. old and they didn't looked phased. My 3 year old said, "what was that," and neither of them ever made a sound. He has continued to outgrow the infant seats and so we decided to go ahead and invest in the Convertible Britax Marathon. This thing has so many safety harnesses, I feel sure that if there is an accident, the ONLY thing that would be left is this seat and the seat it is attached to. I can't say enough good things about it. My son doesn't sweat in it like the others, he is snug enough to be safe, yet has enough room to be comfortable. Also, it is approved up to 65 lbs. which is 15 lbs. more than most convertibles. You can't go wrong with this one!

This carseat saved my son's life. We just had a serious accident and our SUV ended up rolling and landing on the roof. My husband injured his elbow and knee, I sustained a concussion and lacerations to my head, hands, arms and legs. My baby, in his Britax Marathon, NOT A SCRATCH, BRUISE OR INJURY. We have our marathon for now 18 month old and are now purchasing another for our 2 month old. I have 2 girls in the 90th percentile and they were never comfortable in their infant carriers. I could not go anywhere peacefully with my first born until she sat in her britax for the first time. we are thankful at how it surrounds and protects her as well as how comfortable she is and how incredibly easy it is to install and buckle her in. OH and we get so many comments on how attractive it is. I constantly take it in and out to put in my sister"s van and it is soosososo easy. I am an insurance claims adjuster and have spoken to policyholders about this car seat. I've handled claims in which a few of the Britax carseats were used. One customer had a child in a regular car seat and the baby hit her head on the glass. The other child was in a Britax carseat and was safe. The policy holder was so confident in the way the carseat held up! So that proves it is a great buy!

This is the best carseat I have ever purchased. My older son used the Alpha Omega and it doesn't even compare to the Britax. We actually bought an Alpha Omega for our six month old before this carseat and he cried the three times we put him in it. The Britax Marathon is roomy and very comfortable. We used the latches and the anchor and it doesn't move at all. I was very nervous with other carseats because no matter what we did, they always moved side to side. Not this carseat, it stays in place. It is a very large caresat though and we have a small car, so it takes up a large part of the backseat. We also had to put it in the middle, because we couldn't move the front seats back and forth because of its size. This leaves little room for our older son. Everyone who sees this seat loves it and it was well worth the money. I will buy a Britax again in the future if needed and I would recomend it to anyone.

Yes. It can face backward for an infant, but is for larger children too, so it ought to work well for your big 5 month old.
