Time to Start Crib Shopping, Where Do I Begin?

Choosing a Baby Crib Set:

By far, the most important nursery furniture choice you will have to make is the crib. Think about it, you're little one will be spending most of thier days and nights here. Average Crib usage for your baby is up to 2 years old, so as their parent, you need to make sure it's the right one.

Below are some types of baby cribs we sell at BabyAge:

Standard Cribs are simple to understand, however there are two known things to look out for when buying. Standard cribs either have a single drop side or a double drop side where both sides drop down. It depends on your need and where you would like it placed in your nursery.

Convertible cribs convert to a toddler bed from standard crib. It even has the possibility to change from a toddler bed into a day or full sized bed. Because of this they can be a bit on the expensive side, but when you think of the future. This can ideally save you money in the long run.

Next in line would be the canopy crib. This type has four posts on the corners of the bed. The posts hold up a usually metal frame on which you can place fabric canopies. Parents who buy canopy cribs want a more elegant & sophisticated design for their nursery.

Round cribs aren't too popular, but more and more parents are beginning to buy them. Round cribs come with a canopy frame and they add class to your nursery. Round Cribs usually have large double wheel casters which make moving into another area easier. Let's say you have guests and you want to have them sleep in peace and quiet, you can just roll the baby's crib into your bedroom. The wheels locks into place when you have found the perfect spot for it. Round baby cribs give the look and feel of a canopy yet add mobility for the parents.

For the traveling parents, you should consider purchasing a portable crib. Portable Cribs give parents the flexibility of taking their child anywhere to get a good night sleep. It goes anywhere and everywhere you go. Bring the comforts of home when you travel - whether on vacation or just visiting Grandma. This type of crib folds compactly to easily be carried with you. Some portable cribs convert into a comfortable crib mattress when your child outgrows the bassinet.

Baby Safety Tips To Follow for your Baby Cribs Sets:

  • After receiving your crib set, check to see when the crib was made
  • Make sure the cribs frame is solid and secure by checking it once a week
  • Always, always, always make sure the sides of the crib can lock into place. This will make your child safe and secure and you will have some piece of mind
  • Be sure to check that the crib mattress is right against all of the sides of the crib
  • Replace old mattresses immediately
  • When the baby can sit up, make sure you move the mattress down to the lowest point.
  • While the baby is inside the crib, make sure both sides of the crib are locked into place
  • To keep your baby safe from any choking or suffocation hazards, take off any jewelry, and remove pillows or stuffed animals from the crib
  • Never place the crib sets close to windows, lamps, electrical plugs or curtains.
  • We recommend you use soft pillows, mattresses, comforters, stuffed toys and bumper pads. Always supervise your baby when with toys and bottles are inside the crib.
